Student Activities

Hello Student Members,

My name is Ashley Keller and I'm the Student Activities Chair for the Connecticut Chapter of ASHRAE. Like you, I got involved in ASHRAE as a student member in our chapter. I've put together some information for you on posting resumes and searching for jobs on the national website and the SmartStart Program for when you are ready to upgrade to associate grade membership after graduation. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about ASHRAE, our local chapter, and anything falling under student membership. I also typically attend our monthly chapter meeting in Cromwell, CT so please be sure to say hello if you attend. Hope to see you there!

ASHRAE Internship Webpage

Did you know you can look for internships and job posting on the national website? Visit the Job Board to post your resume and search for internships and job postings. For example, I tried searching for All (Job Type) Internship (Job Function) in Massachusetts and found postings for a Mechanical Engineer at a Boston Area Consulting Firm, an Electrical Engineering Intern at an Automation Solutions Provider, and so on.

Please also consider attending our monthly chapter meetings. In addition to the technical sessions it offers the opportunity to network with local professionals. This will allow you to learn more about the many HVAC&R professions in Connecticut and could potentially lead to an undergraduate internship or a career upon graduation. Remember - It's all about who you know and who knows you.

If you should decide to post your resume to the Internship Webpage please let us know at StudentActivities@ctashrae.org

If you are placed in an internship program (through the ASHRAE Internship Webpage or by any other means) by a member of our CT Chapter please let us know at StudentActivities@ctashrae.org

The Smart Start Program

Simply put, it's the best way for ASHRAE student members to receive the many benefits of Associate grade membership after finishing college. SmartStart is a 3-year program that allows Student members to transfer to Associate grade membership at a rate that is recent-graduate friendly. The prices are:

First Year: $21
Second Year: $79
Third Year: $105

Associate Level Membership annual cost is regularly $209, so with the Smart Start program you can get 3 years of membership for less than the cost of one year of the normally priced Associate Level Membership.

*This does not account for Annual Local Chapter Dues*

To sign up or download an application visit the Student Zone on the national website.

*Please note that the SmartStart program is only for Current ASHRAE Student Members who have been a Student Member for at least one year.
