Presentation speaker: Rodd Hyatt, Full-product-line Trainer for HTP Comfort Solutions

Rod travels throughout the country to teach technology-driven classes for primarily engineers and contractors. He focus on the actual numbers to help those in his classes properly size equipment for CH (Central heating) and domestic-hot-water applications, including connected infrastructure such as plumbing, pumps and controls. One of Rod's classes, titled "To Tank or Not to Tank, That is the Question," is designed to help students understand new technology and product choices that improve efficiency and drastically lower project costs – a 100% turn-around from industry norms of just five years ago.

Rod's specialties: Domestic and space water heating combined with solar-thermal technologies, systems design, installation and technical training

Rod's objectives in the world of efficiency and renewable energy include:

1)Train installers, contractors, engineers, architects and other professionals to design and install real-world, functional water heating systems.

2) Assist contractors and other sales professionals as they analyze design plans to create accurate quotes.

Rod is a professional trainer and consultant for Solar Skies and HTP. He has conducted basic and advanced courses for thousands of professionals in 45 states and Canada. Dozens of his classes were hosted by major plumbing reps and served as continuing ed classes for the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE). This included a tech-ed session at the 2010 ASPE Convention & Engineered Plumbing Exposition in Philadelphia.

Before joining HTP in 2008, Rod owned In Hot Water Heat & Power, Inc., Utah’s then-largest solar business and Utah's first completely off-grid commercial and manufacturing enterprise. Its many projects included solar thermal systems for the Utah State University Utah House, Gunnison City Pool, the Zion National Park Visitors Center and IKEA.

Rod worked with HTP to create new innovative startups such as Sun Hydronics and Solar Spectrum. The chief accomplishment of these endeavors was Rod’s SunStation kit design, which won Best New Product at ISH 2006.

When he’s not traveling from coast to coast to conduct training, Rod works from his home in a rural community in northern Utah.
