The focus will be on the fundamentals of design and a discussion of factors to consider when evaluating options.
Specific topics covered will include air distribution system design methods; the fan laws and duct fitting selection (converging, diverging)
Sound control in duct design is explored, along with various options available to the designer to manage noise.
Leakage control and its impact on design and performance, will be discussed. Finally, a basic look at exposed ducwork design and systems are covered, with specific examples given of various types.
Tech Session: 5:00 - 6:00 pm
Sound Control and Duct Design
The presentation on sound and duct design will be a review of acoustical theory as it relates to duct systems, acoustical terms and definitions as well as how sound / noise moves in ductwork. Acoustic calculations are reviewed.
The speaker will present design practices, installation methods and products available for dealing with sound issues in duct work.
