Equipment Noise and Vibration Control

Many muncipalities and building owners have maximum noise standards that  must be meet.  This presentation will outline sources of HVAC related noise and discuss methods to address them.

The session begins with an overview of the physics of sound, a discussion of noise and review industry standards equipment manufacturers use for reporting it in their equipment

The discussion will also cover noise in buildings and outdoors, including its behavior, modeling tools and general ways to mitigate noise. Finally, the presentation will cover industry best practices for noise suppression as it applies to specific building operations and types of equipment, such as air handling units, pumps and chillers.

Dinner Session Speaker- Bruce Majer, BRD Noise & Vibration Control Inc.

Bruce Majer is currently Vice President of BRD Noise & Vibration Control.  He has been with BRD since 2002  and he has been involved with vibratory noise control, with strong concentrations in acoustics and machine reliability, since 1980

Prior to joining BRD, Bruce has worked in vibration / sound control developing and maintaining machine reliability solutions for industrial, architectural and HVAC applications.  Specialties include SCIF and recording studio expertise. 

Bruce has designed training courses in sound and vibration analysis, delivering them throughout this hemisphere and abroad. He has published in the journals Sound & Vibration, P/PM Technology, Vibrations, ASNE Fleet Maintenance Technical Proceedings and ASNE Intelligent Ships.
